Kristin Iris

In this episode Kristin Iris and I talk about the “Oreo Complex” the accusation that someone is Black on the outside and white on the inside because they don’t conform to someone’s idea of what being “Black” looks like. Kristin and I also tackle the subjects of belonging, what creativity looks like for her, and so much more.

Kristin Iris is a Film Producer, Speaker, and Coach helping Black creatives cultivate liberation, joy, and power through deep personal work and creative expression. In helping Black creatives dismantle their internalized oppressions and stand in their power she works in particular on healing “The Oreo Complex” - the idea that you aren’t Black enough. As a creative she is a writer and hosts the Melanated Rising podcast. She is also a Producer at MegaMind Media a Black-owned film production company.
