Choose What You Will Do
On Friday we watched tens of thousands of Minnesotans (as well as people across the country) protest ICE. Then on Saturday we saw video of the murder of Alex Pretti by a band of sick thugs who walked away talking about how shooting a man they had disarmed, and who was lying on the ground, was like playing the video game Call of Duty.
I don't need to repeat what's already been said about the revolting inhumanity and criminality of what we saw. Instead I want to talk about what we do.
We can't all do the same things or all the things, and that isn't necessary. What is necessary is that we all do something. I came across an excellent list on Substack that I've copied and pasted to my website. Take a look at the list and find yourself on it. There is something there that you can do. Then, go a step further, and invite a friend, or 3, to do the same.
Overwhelm hits fastest and hardest when we try to force ourselves to do work that doesn't align with who we really are. This list is comprehensive and allows each of us to find our niche, to make our contribution. Remember, we are looking for longevity of action, not who is the fastest to burnout.
Once you pick your thing, please contact me and let me know what you chose. I'm asking this because I think it's really important that we strengthen our communities and, one way we do that is by being in communication. Also, if I know what you all are doing, I can be more effective in serving your needs. So, please, do let me know.
The last few weeks have been absolutely brutal and we are witnessing more and more people get up off the sidelines and into the fight. This battle is going to be long and hard fought but maybe, just maybe, we are beginning to turn the tide.
We can do this. I believe in us!
Stay connected to your joy.
Thank you for all that you do.
